We can say that Apple has experienced the most turbulent events of the recent period, especially in the field of modem technologies. After the partnership with Intel, the breakdown of Qualcomm, two-year patent lawsuits as a result of the agreement with Qualcomm again after the acquisition of Intel’s modem unit surprised the world of technology. The company now seems to have created a roadmap.
We all know Apple doesn’t want to be independent of its component suppliers. In the first stage, Apple has implemented a strategy of working with multiple suppliers, and in the second stage, Apple is trying to develop the component itself. The A-series chipsets were the product of this strategy.
Another issue that Apple attaches great importance to is the control of communication technologies. In this way, both dependency and communication standards will be able to set itself. It has to accept the technologies developed by other suppliers.
The product of this strategy was the acquisition of the Intel modem unit. After adopting the technologies, Apple started to develop its own modem. According to famous analyst Ming-chi Kuo, Apple wants to launch its modem product by 2022 at the latest. He has set an aggressive strategy for this. He expects to start testing this modem next year.
Sources Apple in the first place will reveal an independent modem product. In 2023, the A series of chipsets will be integrated. Apple will also include 5G technology. Of course, approval must be obtained from the authorized communication authorities during this process.
Apple’s plans are carried out through Intel XMM 8160 modem technologies. 5G modem developments were entrusted to Turkish engineer Esin Terzioğlu. Lastly, Terzioğlu, who was vice president of Qualcomm, was transferred to Apple two years ago and headed the chipset division.
Some experts believe Apple must push the terms too. Otherwise, the first modem product is thought to remain in 2023 or later. Probably some stages will become clear by the end of next year.
