Apple sends users' browsing data to Chinese technology giant Tencent

It is revealed that Apple is sending sensitive browser data to Chinese IT giant Tencent.

Technology giant Apple , when it comes to user privacy, expresses how sensitive it is at every opportunity. However, according to new information, Apple, China-based company Tencent Safari browser data on iOS’taki is sending.

Apple’s browser is equipped with security controls to combat malicious applications such as phishing . This feature in Safari is called Fraudulent Website Warning and the browser determines if it is secure by sharing them with Google Safe Browsing .

Recently, however, it was discovered that in addition to Google, Apple also sent similar information to Chinese Tencent , which also censored and signed controversial collaborations with the Beijing government. Although it is not yet clear which information is sent to Tencent, Apple’s privacy policy reveals that Safari sends browsing data to China:

” Before visiting a website, Safari can send information from the website to Google Safe Browsing and Tencent Safe Browsing to check if the website is fraudulent. These secure browsing providers can also register your IP address. ”

The Fake Web Site Alert feature in Safari can be disabled from the settings on iPhone and iPad running iOS 13 . However, blocking this feature means that you are also losing access to Google’s security system, and you should not forget that this may create a security vulnerability . Apple has not yet made a statement about this collaboration with Tencent, which it has implemented without notifying users.
