Galaxy S20 Ultra becomes king of performance

Posted on March 22, 2020 by Specs

Introducing the new flagship family in February, Samsung made an ambitious entry into the market with the S20 series. Samsung, which has managed to attract attention especially with the family leader S20 Ultra , promises a great fluency with its 120 Hz screen refresh rate. Made to become Ultra performance king with Snapdragon 865 processor .

Many users who have recently rebelled the differences between the Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the S20 series have launched a relevant petition campaign.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra with Snapdragon 865 processor promises considerable improvements compared to previous models. S20 Ultra , which is the most performing device in the market, has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and makes this performance feel to its users. In a flagship device with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, no major differences were felt in daily use with the previous generation. However, the fact that the phone manufacturers released models with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and 120 Hz made this difference noticeable.

Snapdragon 865 inside the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra fits expected CPU performance improvements . Both single-core and multi-core GeekBench 4 results show a similar improvement of 18 to 21 percent. Qualcomm made a big leap by switching to the Arm Cortex-A77 core. With the increase of cache sizes and more efficient use of resources, there were great performance increases.

Snapdragon 865, which has great improvements in memory and graphics as well as processor speed, pleases mobile players. With the proliferation of 120 Hz supported games , the increasing performance difference will be felt much more comfortable. With the increase in multi-core performance and the use of UFS 3.0 storage, video processing and writing is also shortened.

The weakness of the S20 Ultra is that it can offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz only in FHD + resolution . According to the leaks coming, OnePlus 8 Pro will be able to offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz in QHD resolution . Of course, this situation may change with updates. There are rumors that the S20 series will achieve a refresh rate of 120 Hz in QHD resolution. The Mi 10 Pro model offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz in FHD + resolution .

What makes users think is the charge consumption that will come with QHD resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. In the tests performed, the usage time between the 120 Hz and 60 Hz refresh rates of the S20 Ultra differs by an average of 140 minutes . This difference can be greatly increased with QHD resolution.

What do you think about the versions of S20 Ultra with Snapdragon and Exynos processors? Which model would you prefer if you had it?
