Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor powered almost all of the flagships launched this year, not to mention Huawei's phones and Samsung's Exynos versions. Now the eyes are turned to Snapdragon 865 .
As in the past year, a technology summit will be held in the US state of Hawaii this year . The most exciting aspect of this event, which will take place from 3 to 5 December 2019, is that Snapdragon 865 will become official .
While there have been dozens of different leaks to date about Snapdragon 865, we still have limited information. The biggest change will be in the production process. Qualcomm, which has been working with TSMC since Snapdragon 820 and 835, will opt for Samsung's 7 nm fabrication process in this new processor.
There will be basically two different processors. In addition to the standard version with a 4G or LTE modem, phones with 5G support will feature the Snapdragon X55.
There is a 15 to 20 percent improvement in power consumption between the 7 nm EUV fabrication process and the 7M FinFET fabrication process of the TSMC, which is expected to come in Snapdragon 865.
In addition, Samsung has already completed work on the 5 nm EUV production process . Samsung is now focusing on expanding its production line in Hwaseong, South Korea, and thus managed to outdo TSMC.
